Water and Shade

I see you

And you see me

A mile apart

Across this pool flat land

You head north

And I walk west

We both seek two things

Blue flag up high

On the whip pole

For us both to see

That blue barrel

For both of us

Beneath  cottonwoods

My wandering work has brought me here

Way out beyond the world

Creosote and sand

Your need for work has drawn your north

Away from those held dear

Risking life and limb

We both migrate cross this land

For work and love

Water and shade

Images of Arizona and the American West
