Farewell to the pond

Down there

Among the pines

I learned to swim

Rocks along

The shore

There forever

The glacier

Put them there

So long ago

The raft

Is gone

And family too

So many

Of the pines

Are cut away

Once

We all played

Here

Half forgotten

Cousins

And friends

The place

Remains

But to me it’s gone
