NaNoWriMo “The Four Republics” Part Ten

Juan V. Caycedo looked out the windows of the Presidential Palace in Bogata and worried.  He worried from the moment he woke to the moment he went to sleep often twenty hours later.  He worried about the Europeans always interested in loaning money, even more interested in getting it back.  He worried about The Americans and the Mexicans his nation’s rivals to the north.  He worried about the Brazilians, their large navy, and bustling slave economy across the Andes.  He worried about internal politics, regional strife, secret societies, and his political rivals.  And now with news that a volcanic eruption had happened the night before in Central America he worried about his own nation’s volcanos, and about Panama.
